About to start this game, have a quick question: Is the Moon godlike ability as good as it seems to me? Or is the power about on par with other racials?

I imagine it is at least possible, but is it feasible to build a paladin geared towards damage and give him/her a 2h sword or something? The 50% extra fire damage seems rad but I'm concerned since the class ability is geared around defenses. Do they get any more active skills down the line? If not I'm probably jist going to try and gear a monk towards tanking because it seems like with the right buffs he could tank a ton of dudes and do a ton of damage with all the wounds he generates. Plus they've got a short range AOE damage nuke that heals them. It just seems like they're designed to take at least a little damage so why not just ramp up defensive stats and tank away?

Mostly I'm just disillusioned with Eder's only claims to fame being a nice sword, a few knockdowns, and a ton of defense so I wanna pick a tank with a little bit more of an impact.

Or that! I'm not married to the idea of swords. Would dual pistols work? I hear quick repeated attacks aren't really that great compared to big slow ones.

I'm currently running a monk as my main and they're pretty handy dudes to have around in a fight. He effectively works as both a major single-target DPS source as well as an off-tank. I pumped CON, DEX and MIT and outfitted him with +MIT boosting gear. The "secret" to monks is that you use a fighter or other heavy tank to take on the trash mobs of the area, and you use the monk to run interference behind the line you've created. Typically my monk charges at enemy spell casters, rangers, or heavy hitters.

edit: also yeah Eder doesn't have a lot of buttons to press but holding down four dudes at once is a huuuuuge benefit to your overall team. If that hasn't seemed like it's that useful, you should start going down the endless paths.


Okay confession time: I'm using a mod that removes engagement because it kept loving with my monk abilities (and also there isn't a cooldown associated with it for some reason? so you could kinda cheese it) so 'holding four dudes' for me has become 'aggro them all first with the tank and they don't really run away' but I might turn it back on just to see if that makes Eder seem a bit stronger.

Oh, followup question: Stats in the game are mostly static, right? Like outside of equipment/buffs, I'm not gonna be leveling up my stats as part of the level-up bonuses right? Or do they give you a point or two later on to spend?
